Family Engagement Opportunity: Family Volunteer Training Panel
Canuck Place Children’s Hospice provides pediatric palliative care to children across B.C. and the Yukon. One cornerstone to our ability to provide quality care is our volunteers. As the Volunteer & Support Services team, we support the organization with ongoing volunteer recruitment and coordination, ensuring we bring in individuals who are able to help our mission and cause. The team regularly conducts volunteer training throughout the year, as well as annual/bi-annual in-depth, 24-hour Family Volunteer training.
The opportunity
This opportunity will be a way for new and existing volunteers who are stepping into the responsibilities of a Family Volunteer role to hear about firsthand lived experiences of accessing the interdisciplinary care Canuck Place provides children and families. This includes participating in a Q&A style panel sharing your family story, volunteer experiences, and medical system experiences. We will not share this panel outside of the Family Volunteer Training as it will not be recorded by Canuck Place.
We hope to select one family who has a child on program or child who has graduated off the program and accesses many aspects of the Canuck Place program including volunteer support at either hospice location.
